- James (and others),
-
- I enjoy reading your postings to MacApp.Tech$, but I only want to read them
- ONCE. (Your stuff is not that good! <grin>) Today I received six copies of
- one of your postings and three copies of another.
-
- Admittedly, the problem is AppleLink's, not yours. (The manner in which
- AppleLink posts messages to groups is that the message is copied to every
- individual mailbox WHILE THE SENDER IS TRANSMITTING. If you send a message to
- a large group -- and MacApp.Tech$ is the largest one on AppleLink -- during
- peak AppleLink times, you run the risk of exceeding your connection time before
- the posting has been sent to everyone in the group. When you later connect,
- you notice the message failed to transmit, so you sent it again. The people
- near the beginning of the group list -- like the first 90% of MacApp.Tech$ --
- get the message twice.)
-
- So the problem is not your fault. However, it is your friends and fellow
- MacAppers who are suffering. One work-around is to only transmit messages to
- MacApp.Tech$ during off-peak hours -- like at 3am. You can do this by setting
- up your AppleLink software to connect automatically at a certain time,
- collecting all your incoming mail and sending all your outgoing stuff.
-
- Shall we all give it a try??
-
- Suffocating under multiple posting, I remain
